Counseling Services:

Steve Barcanic is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience providing counseling for children, teens, young adults, families, and parents. He blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Mindfulness skills, creating a theoretical approach that helps people learn to manage stress, face their fears, build self-confidence, and experience emotional growth.

Steve is trained and certified in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for Teens (MBSR-T) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). He has extensive training and experience in the area of mindfulness and enjoys helping others learn simple ways to incorporate mindfulness practices into their daily lives.

His work with parents combines principles from the work of Jim and Charles Fay, founders of the Love and Logic parenting approach, with strategies from the Cooperative Problem Solving model created by Dr. Ross Greene. Additionally, Steve helps parents learn mindfulness techniques, which allows them to be more present, patient, and aware of their interactions and communication with their children. Within these frameworks, Steve helps people build the skills necessary to develop happiness and well being.
